AgEx, the agribusiness company that has been pushing for farmers to get the extension to the Port of Oakland, said Thursday it will start construction on the extension on the day it receives the approval from the Port.
It said it expects to start delivering the AgExpress to farmers in April 2019.
The extension, expected to be completed in 2019, would be a major expansion for farmers and the port, which was one of the main beneficiaries of AgEx expansion plans.
AgEx has already begun work on the expansion project.
AgExpress, which started selling seeds and other products in January, will also be expanding its distribution network.
